At the end of August the Redentore Festival is celebrated in Nuoro. - This is a festival in which sacred and profanes are harmoniously bonded together. Dances and shows are surroundings to the procession of costumes coming from every region of the island that reach the Statue of ‘SS. Redentore’ in the church of ‘Signora di Montenero’ in the mountain of Ortobene. The celebration started at the beginning of the century when the bronze statue of Christ was placed on the highest pick of the mountain.
