village of Fonni is located in the heart of the Gennargentu
mountains. This area is nearly 1000 metres above the sea level,
the highest of Sardinia. The weather is mild during the summer
and for this reason it is one of the most appreciated mountain
summer and also winter resort, thanks to the skiing facilities
of Bruncu Spina. It is the ideal habitat of the moufflons, wild
boar, fox, dormouse and marten. At Nuoro within few minutes
drive you could visit the Ortobene mountain with a bronze statue
of Cristo Redentore on its peak - an attractive recreational
area providing a swimming pool, tennis courts, archaeological
sites and activities such as: horse riding, football, skating
and clay pigeon shooting.
